Good evening everyone and Happy Presidents’ Day! It has been a rather long weekend weather-wise and it looks like it is not over quite yet. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 PM tonight until 10 AM tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service is anticipating wind chill values as low as -15*F. As a quick refresher, the new threshold for these advisories is -10*F. The first advisory that we had of this type this winter had wind chills as low as -12*F and only Pocono Mountain delayed. The second event had Exterme Cold Warnings, which prompted most to delay and Pocono Mountain to go virtual. This event appears to be nestled in between the two in terms of severity. Considering the heavy ice event on Saturday, combined with spotty black ice and isolated power outage concerns, I could also see an argument for delaying more as a precaution. Therefore, I am favoring delays for tomorrow.
I do suspect that if schools are going to delay, with wind chills being the strongest point in this scenario, I suspect they would make the call tonight than tomorrow morning, but I could be wrong. Regardless, keep an eye out for alerts. Be safe everyone, stay warm, and have a great rest of your evening. Thank you for your support!
