Happy Sunday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Below is the FINAL Prediction for Monday, January 29, 2024.
Precipitation is occurring throughout the region, but what type depends on elevation. Most locations are experiencing rainy conditions and above freezing temperatures, while the highest elevations are observing some snow and sleet with around-freezing temperatures. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 6 PM this evening.
Mixed precipitation is expected to continue until the evening hours tonight. However, frozen or icy precipitation is anticipated to be confined to the highest elevations of the county and temperatures will be above freezing for most. The National Weather Service is anticipating snow around an 1 inch and ice up to 0.10 inches by the time the event is over, but concentrated around the Mount Pocono area.
Considering these factors, I do suspect most school districts are likely to go in on time tomorrow morning, driven by the above freezing temperatures. However, distircts which will be exposed to below freezing temperatures (yes, I am talking to you Pocono Mountain) will have a greater chance of delaying tomorrow morning.
Personally, I am not sure if there is enough confidence for a higher-elevated district to make a delay call this evening, but I would not be suprised if some do so tonight and others wait until the morning to decide. Regardless, keep an eye out for alerts through tomorrow morning. Have a great day everyone and thank you for the support!
