FINAL Predictions for Thursday and Friday, January 19, 2024

Good morning everyone and Happy Thursday! Below are the FINAL Predictions for Thursday and Friday, January 19, 2024.

The forecast for today continues to indicate little snowfall; in fact, trends have continued lower and model guidance is suggesting the area will be lucky to receive a coating! As a result, the Regular Day odds continue to increase for today. I cannot rule out an isolated cancellation of activities, but I think it is safe to say early dimissals are no longer a material-enough possibilitity to include in the pie.

As for tomorrow, the National Weather Service did make some modifications to its Winter Weather Advisory. The new advisory shifts the start time from 12 AM to 4 AM and the end time from 7 PM to 10 PM. The snowfall totals increased from 2 to 4 inches to 3 to 5 inches. Both of these changes make sense to me and are more in line with what recent model guidance has been suggesting. As a result, the Closing odds continues to increase. I am still keeping an Early Dismissal probablity on the table in case snow arrives much later than expected, but I am still confident on a start time that would be during or before the morning bus runs.

Confidence might be high enough for schools to announce closing calls tonight, so keep your eyes out for alerts. Have a great day everyone and thank you for the support!

I do want to breifly mention if you are interested in getting hourly predictions for your local county, I highly recommend checking out the Premium Site. It provides hourly school predictions, weather forecasts, power outage risks, and long range outlooks out to four days in advance. It is also a great way to support the service. Check it out!
