FINAL Prediction for Wednesday February 22, 2023

Good early morning everyone and Happy Wednesday. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 10 AM today until 1 AM Thursday. 10 AM is usually an on-the-fence situation between closings and early dismissals. We did have an event with a similar start time earlier this year which did result in closings; however, less precipitation is expected for this event (1″ of snow and 0.1″ of ice, versus 3 to 6″ of snow) and temperatures will be around freezing, plus or minus a few degrees depending on elevation. The National Weather Service did note this would mostly impact areas above 1,000 feet. It is possible for temperatures to dip below freezing as the precipitation occurs. Considering these factors, I do see it probable for school districts to early dismiss today, but I could also see some closings for districts who are higher-elevated.

I think there is a chance for lingering impacts into Thursday, so I will be issuing a prediction this late-afternoon/early-evening for it.
