FINAL Prediction for November 16, 2022

Good evening everyone! I hope you had a great day today. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for November 16, 2022.

This afternoon, a good portion of school districts canceled after school activities, more so than expected. Further, snow did arrive a few hours earlier than model guidance was suggesting, yet in line with the National Weather Service advisory (which goes until 7 AM tomorrow). Overall the forecast of 1 to 3 inches of snow/sleet and 0.20 inches of ice is the same. One notable change is the temperature expectations of when they move above freezing have shifted later. Originally, it was expected for temperatures to go above 32 degrees just after midnight; now forecasts are expecting the transition to occur around or just before sunrise. This includes moderate-elevated areas (1,000 feet). This few-hour shift in the rise in temperatures has a major influence on the scenario odds as temperatures will likely be around freezing when administrators evaluate conditions around 4 AM. Plus, North Pocono School District did a post on Twitter advising on Act 80 procedures if a two hour delay occurs; to be clear (as of this writing) they have not declared a delay and their post doesn’t guarantee a delay will happen, but it is an interesting observation.

I don’t anticipate a lot of evening calls tonight and I suspect any delay calls would happen tomorrow morning; therefore, keep an eye out for alerts. Thanks everyone for the support and have a great rest of your evening!
