First Prediction for Friday, December 18, 2020

Good evening everyone! Attached is the First Prediction for Friday, December 18, 2020. The Final Prediction for tomorrow (100% Closing/Virtual) still stands; at the time of this writing (6 PM 12/16), Stroudsburg and East Stroudsburg are closed.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 10 AM tomorrow. Heavy snow is making its way towards us now and I do anticipate sleet to mix in during the overnight hours. The more sleet we get, the less snow we will receive. I still like 15 to 21 inches of snowfall as the final forecast.  With snowfall concluding around 10 AM tomorrow, this will allow some time (not a lot) for conditions to improve. For now, I am favoring a delay for Friday, but if snow totals are higher than expected, then the closing/virtual odds would increase substantially. I will also be monitoring road conditions throughout the day tomorrow.

I do want to caution that the hybrid schedules are throwing a wrench into how schools are reacting. For example today, instead of conducting early dismissals, schools just kept the teachers home as fully virtual, mostly because today is an all virtual day for students. I would prepared for all-types of scenarios on Friday, but my predictions are being kept “traditional” until we observe otherwise.

I plan on issuing the Final Prediction for Friday tomorrow evening. Be safe everyone and enjoy the snow!
