Good evening everyone. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Thursday, December 19, 2019.
A few snow squalls have passed through the area, generating a quick quarter to half inch of snowfall. Some roads are slushy, however, they are expected to improve as time progresses. Roads should be drier before temperatures fall further to cause a flash freeze. We would also need more snow accumulations (ideally a couple of inches) to have enough slush on the roadways that could freeze; but snow squalls are expected to weaken this evening, limiting the total snowfall to what we have already.
The main contributor to the delay odds are the expected wind chills tonight, which are forecast to be in the negative single digits. However, schools typically delay when a Wind Chill Advisory is issued. Wind Chill Advisories are issued when the majority of the county will experience -15*F or lower wind chills. I reached out to our local National Weather Service office and they have indicated they do not have enough confidence to warrant a Wind Chill Advisory. Therefore, I am in favor of a Regular Day tomorrow, but a delay is not off the table, especially for the elevated areas, due to a non-zero flash freeze potential.
Stay safe everyone, have a great rest of your evening, and thank you for the support!
