Good evening everyone! I hope your weekend is off to a good start.
A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Monroe County from 8 PM tonight until 1 PM tomorrow. This evening, freezing rain is possible for areas above 1,500 feet; around of a tenth of an inch of ice (with isolated higher amounts) is expected before it converts to normal rain during the overnight hours. Then during the day Sunday, a changeover from rain to snow is anticipated, causing upwards of one inch of accumulations. This event will be limited to the higher elevations and impacts to schools on Monday is unlikely. However, please be careful if you are traveling during these hours.
I do want to provide an update regarding Remind. There has been a lot of questions regarding why the text messages have stopped and it is because Remind is now charging for large groups. I was able to get in contact with a Remind representative earlier this past week and I can confirm I will not be using their services any more – because our group contains 6,500 people, it would cost $4 per person, or $26,000 a year, to reopen the group. This is too costly for the platform and consequently I will remain with BAND. This is unfortunate but understandable as to why Remind is doing this – I am thankful the Remind group grew to as large as it did. Below is a link on how to sign up for the BAND alerts.

That is all I have for now. Stay safe and have a great rest of your weekend!
