Updated Predictions for Wednesday, January 30 and Thursday, January 31, 2019

Good evening everyone. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, January 30, 2019 and the Second Prediction for Thursday, January 31, 2019.

Moderate to heavy snow will continue for the next few hours. Many primary and secondary roads are reported to be in poor condition, in some cases unplowed. Any slushy surfaces are expected to hard freeze tonight as temperatures drop into the teens. Given these factors, I do favor closings for tomorrow morning, especially for the elevated districts.

Overall, very cold wind chills are anticipated for Thursday. Trends have moved slightly warmer (but we are still talking single digits for highs), but I still favor closings for now. What type of wind chill alert gets issued (warning vs advisory) will influence how schools react on Thursday.

Some schools are making delay announcements tonight; if your school does, I think they will conduct re-evaluations in the morning (a re-evaluation does not guarantee they will close). Have a safe evening everyone and thank you for the support!
