FINAL Prediction for December 17, 2018

Good evening everyone. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Monday, December 17, 2018.

Generally speaking, I do not like predicting 50/50 scenarios because it makes me look indecisive. However, I think this is one of those situations where it is justified. Road conditions significantly vary by elevation (thank you all for the reports!). In the higher elevations, snow and sleet are beginning to cover up roadways; in the valleys, road conditions remain wet as rain continues to fall. Temperatures are overall around freezing, with the coldest air in the higher elevations; this is expected to continue for the rest of the night. Snow and sleet should be wrapping up around 8/9 PM.

Given there are drastic differences in road conditions between elevations, I think it is possible for districts like Pocono Mountain to delay while other districts go in on time, hence the 50/50 prediction. If road conditions become icy in the valleys, then I think all of Monroe County could delay; conversely, if road conditions improve overnight in the elevated areas (which I somewhat doubt), then a Regular Day for all of Monroe County is on the table.

By the way, if you are interested in wearing your own Vogt WeatherWatcher hoodie, they are now available! Check it out!

A big thank you to those who sent in road reports; I do appreciate your assistance. Please do not hesitate to tweet or comment any observations you can provide. Have a great rest of your evening and thank you for the support!
