Light Snow and Freezing Rain Expected Sunday, December 16, 2018

Good evening everyone! I hope your Friday went well as we head into the weekend.

The weather on Sunday is going to start off rainy, but at some point, rain will be converting to freezing rain and snow, lasting as late as late-Sunday night. The National Weather Service is expecting 1 inch of snow (image below) and between 0.1 and 0.2 inches of ice.

I am concerned these impacts may linger into Monday morning, which may cause school delays. However, this will depend on how warm or cold temperatures will get and when the precipitation stops; the later the precipitation lasts and the colder the temperatures, the higher chance for delays.

If you have not checked out the Premium site, I highly recommend to do so! The site provides school predictions and road impacts for 12 counties across Northeastern PA. The site correctly predicted a Regular Day for Monroe County and surrounding counties for Thursday’s snow event. Check it out!

My tentative plan is to issue the First Prediction (for Monday) tomorrow night, the Second Prediction Sunday morning, and the Final Prediction Sunday late-afternoon. Have a great evening everyone and thank you for the support!
