FINAL Prediction for February 7 and Second Prediction for February 8, 2018

Good evening everyone. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 7, and the Second Prediction for Thursday, February 8, 2018.

A Winter Storm Warning will be in effect from 4 AM Wednesday until 9 PM Wednesday night. Snow and ice forecasts remain the same: 4 to 7 inches of snow and 0.1 inches of ice is expected during the warning period. With the shift earlier in the start time, to me, this removes the early dismissal option off the table. This is why I am “all-in” for closings throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania tomorrow. Some schools in the region have already announced closings for tomorrow; just as a reminder, wait until your school officials make formal announcements before assuming your school is closed — these predictions are my thoughts only. 🙂

Despite a slight shift earlier in the event’s end time, I am still concerned the widespread frozen-precipitation associated with this system will create a worse flash-freeze than Sunday night/Monday morning’s event. So for now, I remain slightly in favor of closings for Thursday. The Final Prediction will likely be issued Wednesday afternoon or evening, depending on how road conditions and temperatures trend.

I would monitor your local sources tonight for any possible announcements from school officials. Have a good evening and thank you for the support as always.
