Good afternoon everyone! I hope your weekend is off to a good start.
Attached is the First Prediction for January 8, 2018. About one inch of snow is anticipated between 1 PM and 6 PM. While the snowfall is not significant, the snow is expected during the afternoon and activity bus runs. One of the challenges to this prediction is the timing creates an on-the-fence situation between canceling just activities or dismissing early — even by an hour. Given the current data, I do favor the early dismissal odds; however, this can change if the snow arrival is delayed or sooner.
School districts have reacted to one inch of snow before; in fact, there have been instances when an intimidating radar image caused schools to react even though no accumulations occurred. I am mentioning this because I am suspect schools are more likely to react than not in this situation. This is why I am keeping the Regular Day odds at 25%.
My tentative plan is to release the Second Prediction tonight followed by the Final Prediction tomorrow morning. I will be keeping an eye on trends throughout the afternoon. Have a good Sunday and thank you for everything.
