FINAL Prediction for December 12, 2017

Good evening everyone. The most recent forecast and model data has prompted changes.

Attached is the Final Prediction for tomorrow. Noticeably, the Regular Day odds have significantly increased and the Closing odds are no longer present. There are a few reasons for this…

— First, snow forecasts have decreased; only 1-2 inches is expected.
— Second, the timing of this event will be after 6 AM. The radar is also expected to be relatively clear around 4/5 AM.
— Lastly, a warming trend in temperatures will result in limited accumulations for the valley areas. Most accumulations will occur in the mountain areas.

Given these circumstances, I have given the Regular Day option the highest probability of occurring. I still think delays are realistic possibility, but schools like Pocono Mountain will have the best chance of experiencing them.

I have been getting some questions regarding early dismissals. Temperatures will be going above freezing by the afternoon hours; it would be better to wait until the roads improve (normally dismiss) rather than to early dismiss into slushy conditions, in my opinion.

Make sure to stay tuned to your local sources for school delay/closing announcements. I will keep an eye out for updates over the next 12 hours. Have a good evening everyone and thank you for the support as always.
