Good evening everyone. Snow and ice totals were less than expected due to a later start time, an earlier end time, and cold air remaining longer (limiting ice). Meteorological forecasts also overestimated the event. While the snow and ice is behind us, we have a flash-freeze delay risk to watch for Monday: let us dive into this…
About an inch of rainfall is anticipated in the morning and early afternoon hours. Temperatures are expected to rise into the 40s by noon; however, a cold front will cause temperatures to drop below freezing before dusk and into the 10s by midnight. Any wet surfaces during the afternoon hours is likely to freeze over. There could be a trace of snowfall in the mountains during the early afternoon hours as the front passes. Winds are typically breezy during rapid temperature changes, which could result in roads drying up before widespread freezes occur.
I will be frank: flash-freeze scenarios are not my strong suit to predict. The Final Prediction could change to favor a Regular Day if observations support so. We have to see how temperatures, rainfall, and wind speeds play out as the day progresses. Expect the Final Prediction in the late-afternoon/early evening hours tomorrow. Have a great evening everyone and thank you for the support!
