Happy Friday everyone! Hopefully everyone enjoyed the somewhat-early start to the weekend with today’s virtual days. There have been changes to the forecast for this weekend, and there is a likely chance that the weekend will be extended for students. Attached is the First Prediction for Monday, February 23, 2026.
What was initially expected to be a ~3 inch snow event for the region on Sunday has recently trended towards a bigger impact scenario. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch in effect from 6 AM Sunday until 6 PM Monday, calling for heavy snow and total possibly exceeding 6 inches. Based on the latest data that I have seen come in over the last 24 hours, the trend towards higher snowfall totals is apparent.
Personally, I am going with 6 to 12 inches of snowfall, with most of it occuring Sunday night into Monday early afternoon. This forecast makes it highly improbable for schools to be in session, making virtual days or traditional closings likely. Then, assuming the area gets that amount of snow and the storm lasts as long as currently anticipated, lingering impacts into Tuesday start coming into play.

The plan is I will issue the Second Prediction for Monday tomorrow, but I may make it Final if confidence is high enough. For Tuesday, I will begin issuing predictions starting tomorrow evening as well. Have a great rest of your evening everyone and thank you for the support!
