Good evening everyone! I hope your week is going well. Ice is expected on Friday and I do think there are going to be some school impacts; a First Prediction has been issued.
The National Weather Service is anticipating up to 0.25 inches of ice from the pre-dawn hours (3/4 AM) until noon on Friday. This will mostly impact the higher elevated areas, as the valleys will be near or just above freezing. Temperatures will gradually rise above freezing for all locations, but it will take time, especially for the elevated areas. My thinking is Pocono Mountain, and by recent history East Stroudsburg, are going to be the most exposed to ice and therefore have the best chance to close or go virtual. For Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg, it becomes a more of a borderline situation, hence my 25/25 split between a Regular Day and Delay. I am hoping to get some more forecast data by tomorrow that can help narrow the odds a bit more.
I plan on issuing the Final Prediction tomorrow evening. Thank you all for the support and have a great rest of your evening!
