Good afternoon everyone! To say it’s cold outside is an understatement. With very windy conditions combined with the coldest airmass of the season, wind chill values are plummeting – they are already at -30*F in Mount Pocono. Stay indoors today! The coldest values are expected by tomorrow morning, with some locations possibly getting as low as -35*F according to model guidance.
The key question is Monday: wind chills will still be cold Monday morning, as low as -15*F, which should in theory trigger Cold Weather Advisories. That said, the setup for Monday is going to be similar to the Friday we had two weeks ago – then, Pocono Mountain and East Stroudsburg delayed while Stroudsburg and Pleasant Valley went in on time. As of now, I am expecting a similar outcome, hence the 50/50 split between Delay and Regular Day; not because of uncertainty, but rather of the expectation for split reactions inside the county.
I plan on issuing the Final Prediction for Monday tomorrow. Please stay warm, ideally indoors today, and have a great rest of your day!
