FINAL Prediction for Thursday, January 15, 2026

Good evening everyone and Happy Wednesday! I hope you are having a good week so far. There is a winter weather risk for this evening, so I did issue a prediction for tomorrow.

Rainfall is expected tonight for the area, but before sunrise there is a chance the rain converts to snow, particularly for the higher elevations. That said, the accumulations are expected to be light: the National Weather Service anticipates a coating of snowfall, an inch at most (notably for Mount Pocono). If wintery precipitation does accumulation, there is a risk for icing due to temperatures falling well below freezing around sunrise. However, all of that said, the latest model guidance is expecting dry air to seep in before the transition to snow occurs – this would mean little to no snowfall accumulations. Therefore, I am anticipating a Regular Day for most, but I cannot rule out delays for colder school districts.

The Premium Site received an overhaul where it now provides district-by-district predictions for all schoools in Pennsylvania. It also now has a Zip Code tool which provides both predictions and weather forecast data graphs. New features are in the works and becoming a Premium member is a great way to support the service.
