Disruptive Snowfall Expected Friday Through Saturday

Good afternoon everyone and Merry Christmas! I hope you all are having a wonderful holiday. While schools are on break, we do have some winter weather to contend with.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 1 PM Friday until 10 AM Saturday. The National Weather Service is currently anticipating 5 to 7 inches of snowfall during this timeframe. There is a possibility for sleet to mix in, particularly for the southwest portions of the county; if it does, it would cut into snow totals.

Based on the latest forecast and model data, the heaviest area of snowfall will likely be northeast of the area, with some parts of the area receiving sleet. Personally, I am leaning more towards a 3 to 6 inch snowfall outcome. In this case, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Winter Storm Watch is not upgraded to warning and an advisory is issued instead.
