Good evening everyone! The first noteworthy snow event of the season is on our doorstep. The FINAL Prediction for Tuesday, December 2, and Second Prediction for Wednesday, December 3, 2025 have been issued. Let’s dive in!
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 AM Tuesday until 6 PM Tuesday. The National Weather Service slightly lowered their forecast to 3 to 5 inches of snowfall, with locally higher amounts, and a glaze of ice. Frankly, this doesn’t really change the circumstances that much – snow and ice expected during the entirity of the school day is the textbook situation for closings and I am all in accordingly. I believe as of this writing Pocono Mountain has already called for a traditional snow day tomorrow.
As for Wednesday, given the increased forecast confidence, I do think districts, in my opinnion, are likely to at least delay due to the need to clean up schools after the event. The wild card becomes flash freezing: temperatures are expected to rapidly fall well below freezing, so there is a risk, partially mitigated by gusty winds for roads to ice over. If this is severe enough, it is possible for closings and virtual days to occur. I will be posting the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday tomorrow evening.
