FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 19, 2025

Good evening everyone and Happy Tuesday! Hopefully you had a good start to the week. Those in Pocono Mountain School District had the opportunity to sleep in this morning and they may get to do the same tomorrow. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 19, 2025.

A Cold Weather Advisory is once again in effect for the area, this time from 11 PM tonight until 7 AM tomorrow morning. The National Weather Service is anticipating wind chill values down to -14*F, a whopping one degree warmer than this morning. Considering the majority of Monroe County schools went in on time this morning, I am expecting the same to occur this morning even with the Cold Weather Advisory. The one exception I could see is Pocono Mountain, whose elevation exposes it to the colder wind child values and could justify a delay. I think with the new Cold Weather Advisories/Exterme Cold Warnings, the going rule-of-thumb appears to be isolated delays are likely with advisories while mostly delays with isolated closings reasonable for warnings.

Keep an eye out for alerts this evening. Similar to yesterday, typically if a school is going to delay or close due to wind chills, they typically announce it the night before. While there were early indications of a snow storm for Thursday, that has trended out to see and no material impacts are expected for the area, perhaps flurries at most. Stay warm everyone and thank you for the support!
