FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 12 and First Prediction for Thursday, February 13, 2025

Good evening everyone and Happy Tuesday! We have quite a bit of weather updates to contend with this evening, so let’s get to it!

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 4 PM Wednesday until 10 AM Thursday – this is not for the snow that is associated with tonight’s system. In fact, dry air is well entrenched in the region and as a result is it preventing much of the snowfall from occur. Tonight’s event is trending towards a nothing-burger. Consequently, the FINAL Prediction for Wednesday, February 12 does feature lower delay odds. I did introduce a 20% chance for No Activities given the advisory start time of 4 PM, but from what I can tell the precipitation should start after activity bus runs conclude.

The Wednesday night into Thursday morning system is going to be a tricky one. The National Weather Service is expecting up to one inch of snow/sleet and 0.10 inches of freezing rain during the advisory window. However, elevation is going to play a crucial factor in local conditions. For example, East Stroudsburg is only anticipating a half inch of snow/sleet and 0.05 inches of ice before going above freezing by 6/7 AM – this makes a case for delays. However, for Pocono Mountain, they will be stuck below freezing for as late as 10 AM in the morning, so naturally they will be exposed to more frozen precipitation and thus greater school impacts. For now, erring on the side of conservatism, I am favoring Delays as the mostly outcome for the county on Thursday, but do not be surprised if we see a mixed bag of reactions and further adjustments to the prediction odds.

I plan on issuing the Final Prediction for Thursday tomorrow evening. Have a great day everyone and thank you for the support!
