First Prediction for Wednesday, February 12, 2025

Good evening everyone and Happy Monday! I hope your week is off to a great start. There will be some winter weather skirting the region on Wednesday; therefore, the First Prediction for February 12, 2025 is out!

An area of low pressure will be passing just to the south of the area late Tuesday night into Wednesday early morning. What makes this a bit challenging is there will be a sharp cutoff between areas of no snowfall and impactfull-enough snowfall to cause delays. For example, Scranton is not anticipated to recieve any snowfall, whereas the Lehigh Valley could receive 1 to 2 inches, which based on the timing would be textbook for impacts. You can actually see this projected well on the Premium Site’s prediction graphics for Wednesday.

The Poconos will be nestled right where this cutoff in precipitation occurs. For now, I am leaning towards a Regular Day because of erroring on the side of conservatism and sometimes precipitation on the northern edge often gets dried out before reaching the ground (virga). I will caution that these percentages can easily change if data shifts one way or the other.

I plan on issuing the Final Prediction for Wednesday and begin issuing predictions for Thursday tomorrow evening. Have a great day everyone and thank you for the support!
