Weekend Snow Storm and Exciting News

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are doing well. I want to go over the snow and ice expected tonight into tomorrow morning and I also want to announce some exciting nows.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the region from 3 PM this afternoon until 6 AM tomorrow morning. During this time 3 to 6 inches of snow/sleet and up to 0.10 inches of ice is expected. There has been a lot of debate in the meteorgological community regarding how much snow and sleet the area will receive. Warm air a few thousand feet up will be pushing north into the Poconos and Lehigh Valley but there is uncertainty as to how far north this push occurs. This is important because the farther north the warm upper-air goes, the higher chance for more sleet than snow, which could cut into overall totals. Model guidance suggests a “thump” of heavy precipitation tonight, but of what type will be determined by the warm air push. Don’t be surprised if we see certain forecsts bust low or high given this uncertainty. I am not expecting impacts to schools on Monday since the system will exit by dawn Sunday morning and that will allow plenty of time for schools and roads to recover. I am also keeping a closing eye on Thursday for potential impacts.

In other news, I am very excited to announce exciting projects and new features that are underway. First, Premium Members now have a Zip Code Prediction tool that provides a localized prediction for their zip code – this is features is live and can work for even zip Codes outside of Pennsylvania! The second project that is currently underway is the creation of county-level predictions across the entire Northeast. This will be a game-changer and I am working to get this running automatically on my website. I have sample images below (still a work in progress).

I cannot thank everyone enough for your support for all of these years. I could not have imagined having the service be where it is today without you all. I am excited to see what the rest of the winter has in store! Have a great evening everyone and be safe!
