Good evening everyone and Happy Wednesday! We are past the halfway mark of the week and winter weather is on the doorstep. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Thursday, February 6, and the Second Prediction for Friday, February 7, 2025.
The Winter Weather Advisory had a couple of updates since yesterday. The start time has shifted up to 11 PM this evening while the expiration time has shifted later to 3 PM. The National Weather Service is still anticipating around one inch of snow/sleet and around 0.10 inches of ice accrual. Simply put, the morning commute is going to be impacted and unnecessary travel is not advised. As a result, I do think we will see Closings/Virtual Days tomorrow, with announcements being made as soon as this evening.
As for Friday, I am still thinking delays are a likely outcome; I nudged the odds up to 70% considering the extended end-time of the advisory. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing in the late afternoon hours tomorrow, but will fall back down below freezing as the night progresses. I do think the formation of black ice is a valid possibility; this, plus the need to prepare schools and buses, makes the argument for Delays pretty strong.
Keep an eye out for alerts this evening and into tomorrow morning. Have a great rest of your night, be safe, and thank you for the support!
