FINAL Prediction for Monday, February 3, 2025

Good afternoon everyone and Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend went well. There has been a last-minute change in the forecast for tonight. Instead of no snowfall that was anticipated for the last several days, data from this morning indicated 1 to 2 inches of snowfall is likely from this evening after sundown until midnight. Therefore, I am issuing a prediction for Monday, February 3, 2025.

When I think about a setup that is ideal for triggering delays, I prefer to see snowfall lasting until 3/4 AM with 2 inches of accumulations. In this case, 1 to 2 inches is anticipated from sundown until midnight, but I think this will be good enough to likely cause delays in the morning. Keep in mind there are multiple factors that can cause delays for school districts, including icy spots on roadways (frozen slush or snow), time needed to clean off buses, and time needed to prepare school districts (clear snow, put down salt, etc.). I think the timing is going to be late enough this evening to cause delays to pop up, in my opinion.

Looking long term, February is shaping up to potentially be a very active month. There could very well be multiple rounds of snow or ice every two to three days, so buckle up! This is still a great time to become a member of the Premium Site, where membership lasts a full 12 months (into next winter!) and members have access to various school prediction and weather graphics for NEPA. Thank you everyone for the support, be careful if traveling this evening or tomorrow morning, and have a great rest of your weekend!
