Good morning everyone! Below is the First Prediction of the 2024-25 Winter Season for this Friday, November 22, 2024. My apologies in advance as I do not have access to the typical graphics I would use at the moment – I am trying to find a work around, but traditional text will need to do for now.
An area of low pressure will develop and position itself east of the Poconos. As the system evolves, rain will start on Thursday, but gradually the system will develop its own cold air, resulting in snowfall on Friday. Keep in mind we are at the beginning of the snow seasons; considering the vast majority of locations will be above freezing, most locations will not experience snow accumulations. However, the higher elevated areas may be poised to get a couple of inches of snowfall: the National Weather Service forecast for Mt. Pocono is suggesting up to 4 inches of snow is possible from Thursday evening until Friday morning.
Considering most of the county will be above freezing, I do favor Regular Days for most of the county. However, Pocono Mountain naturally being more elevated introduces closing and delay risks for them. This is a very dynamic system and I would anticipate drastic differences in snowfall totals depending on elevation. Unless the forecast drastically changes tomorrow, my plan is to issue a Final Prediciton on Thursday. Have a great day everyone and thank you for the support!
