Good morning everyone! Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Tuesday, January 23, 2024.
The Winter Weather Advisory is now in effect and will continue to be until 1 PM tomorow (Wednesday). There is no change in the ice forecast (0.05-0.20 above 1,200 feet, less than 0.05 below 1,200 feet). Many schools in the northern tier of NEPA delayed last night, which only pushes morning buses closer to the onset of the ice and it eliminates the option for early dismissals. As a result, those northern tier districts are likely backed into a corner and may be forced to close or go virtual. Pocono Mountain announced last night they are virtual for this morning since they will be below freezing during this entire event.
So far everything appears to be going along with the forecast, so I am locking in my Second Prediction’s percentages as Final. The logic here is that Pocono Mountain closes, Pleasant Valley and Stroudsburg remain on time, and East Stroudsburg early dismisses given their historical trend to “split the difference.”
The Final Prediction for Wednesday will be issued this evening. Depending on how ice develops and is projected to occur overnight, I may make additional adjustments to the percentages. Have a great day everyone, be safe, and thank you for the support!
