Good morning everyone! Happy Sunday; attached is the Second Prediction for Monday, January 23, 2023.
The Poconos for this event is going to be on the edge between little impacts to more significant impacts and it looks like trends are starting to favor the lower-impact scenarios, at least for the lower-elevated areas. Per the latest data, the lower elevated areas are likely to experience at most an inch of snowfall this evening, but temperatures will rise above freezing and will convert the precipitation to rain. This will wash away most of the accumulations. While this is good news for morning commuters, this significantly hurts the chances for delays for these districts, hence the increase in the Regular Day odds.
As for the higher elevated districts, because they will be colder for longer, they will experience high snow totals (along with some light ice) overnight tonight. For them, there is even the chance for precipitation to convert back to snow in the morning hours tomorrow, so I still think there is a decent chance for school reactions.
I will likely refine these percentages still going into this evening; I plan on issuing the Final Prediction tonight. Have great day everyone and as always thank you for the support!
