Good evening everyone! I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Monday, January 23, 2023. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 7 AM tomorrow morning. This forecast has continued to be annoying and I have decided to take an unorthodox approach to the prediction.
For the lower-elevated districts, about an inch of snow can be expected from now until midnight. Around midnight, temperatures will rise above freezing converting all precipitation to rain. Temperatures are likely to remain above freezing through Monday morning, causing rain to wash away slush on roadways. Above freezing temperatures are going to suppress the delay odds, hence my favoritism towards a Regular Day.
For the higher-elevated districts, it is a different story. An inch or so of snow is still anticipated and temperatures will probably go above freezing for a short period around midnight, but then temperatures are likely to fall back below freezing in the hours leading up dawn. Further, backend snow is expected between 6 and 8 AM: right in the middle of the re-evaluation window. My concern for many districts that have already or may eventually delay is they would be delaying into snowfall and below freezing temperatures, creating a justification for closing or going virtual and hence my favoritism towards a closing.
This is a bit of an unusual prediction, but I have a hard time seeing delays pan out for tomorrow for all elevations for different reasons. Unfortunately, this is yet again another borderline/marginal/nuisance event for this winter, which is making school predictions exponentially more difficult; I do appreciate your patience and support through this.
