Good evening everyone! While we thought winter went away for the six months, it decided to leave one friendly reminder of its existence before truly leaving. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for April 19, 2022.
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 8 PM tonight until 10 AM tomorrow morning. 3 to 6 inches of snowfall is expected during this time period. Elevation is going to be critical as far as how much snow once receives. In the valley areas of the county, perhaps an inch or two is expected, but for those greater than 1,000 feet, your odds of at least three inches is pretty good. The National Weather Service suggest the highest of elevations might receive upwards of 9 to 10 inches of snowfall… which is hard to believe given it is mid-April. Thankfully, we can truly tell winter goodbye after tomorrow.
For most districts in the county, I do favor the delay scenario because near to above freezing temperatures are going to keep the accumulations in check – albeit I still expect some road accumulations, but not as much as what we would expect in the middle of winter with the same conditions. I am thinking districts like East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg, and Pleasant Valley may likely delay. However, Pocono Mountain’s elevation is going to position itself for more snow and colder temperatures; therefore, I do favor the closing/virtual scenario for them. I did keep some percentage towards the regular day scenario because if temperatures as a whole are not as cold as forecast, a regular day could easily happen for the lower-elevated districts.
Keep you eyes out for any alerts from local districts tonight into tomorrow morning. Have safe evening everyone and thank you for the support!
