Second Prediction for December 16 and First Prediction for December 17, 2020

Good evening everyone! Attached is the Second Prediction for Wednesday and the First Prediction for Thursday, December 17, 2020.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect from 10 AM Wednesday until 10 AM Thursday; the National Weather Service is calling for snowfall in excess of 12 inches. Personally, I suspect we will receive somewhere between 15 and 21 inches. While I believe we will be in the jackpot zone (someone could get two feet), there is a low-side potential of sleet reaching into Northeastern PA and cutting down snow totals: we saw this during the March 2017 blizzard. This will be a historic storm for the region for the month of December and pretty much guarantees a white Christmas; get your yardsticks ready.

While the Watch starts at 10 AM, I do think this is a bit early as model guidance points towards a 2/3 PM start, and I do think the NWS will adjust accordingly. Consequently, I think Early Dismissals are likely for Wednesday; don’t forget teachers still have to go to the buildings to teach. Still, let’s keep an eye out for any announcements since we are living in unique times right now. Closings are very strong likelihood for Thursday. I think schools that have the option to go virtual may still be forced to close due to power outage concerns.

The next round of updates will be published tomorrow evening. Have a great rest of your day and thank you for the support! Want to help out the service? Check out the Premium Site and Merchandise!
