FINAL Prediction for November 18, 2019

Good evening everyone! Attached is the FINAL Prediction for November 18, 2019. Generally speaking, I try to avoid doing 50/50 splits where possible, but I think this is a situation that warrants it.

0.05 inches of ice at most is expected for our area. With a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight until 10 AM, it does give argument to the Delay scenario. However, model guidance is not enthused with accumulations – icy roads will likely be hit or miss throughout the area. I examined similar past events to see how districts previously reacted; the common theme I found was schools within a county did not react in unison. For example, Pocono Mountain might delay while the others go in on time; or all of Pike County would delay while Monroe County goes in on time. Given this, it makes sense to go with a 50/50 prediction given that some schools may react differently than others within a county.

I will be up early tomorrow morning to monitor school reactions. We also have to keep our eyes on Tuesday morning as snow could impact the northern tier of the Poconos. Have a good evening everyone and thank you for the support.
