Good evening everyone! Winter is here and we have our first event that warrants the season’s first prediction.
Rain is expected to start tomorrow night and will changeover to light snow around 7 AM Tuesday morning, lasting until 10 AM. Snow accumulations are expected in the 0.5 to 2 inch range, with most of it confined to the higher elevations and non-paved surfaces. There may be some isolated slick spots on roadways.
The caveat with this event are the conditions around the morning decision time (4/5 AM). Current guidance has rainfall and above freezing temperatures for most locations, with the exception of Mount Pocono. With this in mind and with low road impacts expected, I do favor the Regular Day scenario for most school districts. However, school districts like Pocono Mountain will have a harder decision as they will be prone to slick conditions around the morning bus runs; in addition, if a school conducts a delay there would not be much benefit as temperatures will not warm during the day.
I plan on issuing the Final Prediction tomorrow evening. I will note we do have a sponsor this season for the prediction graphics. Critical Systems is a highly rated company which provides generator services throughout Northeastern Pennsylvania. If you have a generator, or are considering getting one, I recommend going with Critical Systems – give them a call!
One last note, I am looking into doing podcasts. I would probably issue new podcasts on a per event basis lasting until 10 minutes. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Thank you everyone for the support, I do appreciate it. Have a great rest of your evening!
