First Prediction for December 13, 2018

Good evening everyone! I hope your week is off to a good start.

Light snow showers are anticipated during the late-morning and afternoon hours on Thursday. While the National Weather Service is expecting half an inch of snow, I suspect higher accumulations (around one inch) are more likely. I do want to mention I am more aggressive than most outlets right now.

Historically, one inch of snow has been enough to cause early dismissals. I do not think the morning bus runs will be impacted, but I would not be surprised if school districts early dismiss out of precaution for the afternoon runs, hence my favoritism towards the Early Dismissal scenario. If, however, conservative forecasts become the most likely outcome, the Early Dismissal odds will decrease.

If you are still trying to find Christmas gifts and if you would like to help out the service, there are Vogt WeatherWatcher hoodies, mugs, t-shirts, and long-sleeve tees available for sale! Also, if you would like to see localized predictions and projected road impacts for your area, especially if you are located outside of Monroe County, I recommend checking out the Premium site as it provides this data for 12 counties across Northeastern PA. Have a look!
