The forecast for Tuesday has not changed much as rain is expected for the Southern Poconos. The highest elevations might see a few snow showers to start (see image) before a changeover to rain, but little to no snow accumulations are expected. About one inch of rain is anticipated for the region.
Our attention then turns to late-Thursday/Friday; an area of low pressure will be making its way northward just off the coast. Depending on the storm track and the location of high pressure to the north, cold air may be “dammed” in place, allowing for some wintry precipitation to occur. It is still too far in advance for any details, but I suspect this may be our first legitimate chance for impactful winter weather. I will be posting updates as warranted.
If you have not checked out the Premium site, I highly recommend to do so! The site is indicating some snow risks for counties further north along the PA-NY border. If winter weather does occur on Friday, this tool will highlight the areas most sensitive to road and school impacts. Check it out!
