Second Prediction for Monday, April 2, 2018

Good morning everyone and Happy Easter. Attached is the Second Prediction for Monday, April 2, 2018.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from midnight tonight until 1 PM Monday; they anticipate 3 to 5 inches of snow, with local amounts up to 6 inches.

The timing poses significant impacts to the morning bus runs. Most of the snow will be occurring before dawn (so the April sun will be a limited factor until the late-morning) and temperatures will be below freezing at the same time. Heavy snowfall rates, which are possible, can cause snow accumulations on roadways even if ground temperatures are above freezing. Given these factors, I believe closings are likely.

I am aware East Stroudsburg and Stroudsburg are closed for the holiday on Monday, but Pocono Mountain and Pleasant Valley are open as a snow make-up day. I will issue the Final Prediction in the late-afternoon or early-evening today. Have a great Easter and thank you for the support.
