Attached is the FINAL Prediction for Friday, March 2, 2018. Overall confidence behind an all-day impact event remains high, especially for the higher elevations. The National Weather Service has now issued a Winter Storm Warning, with snow forecasts ranging from 3 to 12 inches, depending on elevation.
Regardless of snow accumulations, wind gusts may reaching 60 mph, which creates a concern for downed trees and power lines. I would not be surprised if near-blizzard conditions occur due to strong winds and heavy snowfall rates.
I want to stress: if your weather app is suggesting warm temperatures throughout the day tomorrow, I would take it with a grain of salt. Weather app data is pulled directly from computer models, which are likely not handling this system well in terms of temperatures (they are likely too warm). Always trust your local meteorologist over your weather app.
As far as currently school closings, Jim Thorpe, Wallenpaupack, Delaware Valley, North Pocono, Western Wayne, Wayne Highlands, and a few others have closed. No Monroe County school district has announced closings; given the current time, I suspect they are waiting until the morning to decide. I still remain confident behind my prediction.
Keep an eye out for school announcements tomorrow morning. Have a safe evening and thank you for the support.
