Good evening everyone. Attached is the FINAL Prediction for February 8, 2018.
Based on road reports (thanks everyone) and current temperatures, I am concerned any wet or slushy surface will hard-freeze tonight as temperatures rapidly drop below freezing over the next few hours, reaching the 10s by the morning.
In a few cases, severe flash-freeze events can cause widespread closures, and I would not be surprised if tonight’s flash freeze pulls off something similar. This is why I am favor of closings tomorrow. With that said, I am being aggressive on this prediction; delays-only are a valid outcome. It is possible for schools in the elevated regions to close (similar to Monday) while more valley-oriented schools delay.
In my opinion, I would not be surprised if our local schools make a delay call tonight then re-evaluate in the morning. Some schools throughout the region, such as Lehighton, Delaware Valley, and Wallenpaupack, have already made delay calls. Pay attention to your local sources over the next 12 hours; have a safe evening everyone.
