Recap of January 16 and 17 Snow Events

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday. Our six-inch snow event has concluded and has resulted in region-wide closings for the area. I have been receiving questions regarding delays for tomorrow morning….

In order to have second-day impacts from a storm, the storm usually has to be an all-day event. Because today’s system was over by the morning hours, this will provide almost a full day’s time for road improvement. In fact, plows are still on the primary and secondary roadways (per PennDOT’s Plow Tracker) and I expect treatment to continue into the evening. Could there be a few delays? Yes, I could see that, but I would only put those odds at 20-30%.

For now, I do not see any immediate winter weather threats on the horizon; this will give us an opportunity get back into our regular routines (and allow myself a breather). I will still monitor for changes and will provide updates as necessary.

On a side note, I do want to recognize the rather incredible growth over the last few days. This page is approaching 6,500 likes (from 5,600 a week ago), Twitter now has over 7,200 followers, the Instagram account has over 2,700 members, and there are over 3,800 text-alert subscribers — a combined audience of over 20,000 users. I truly have no other people to thank but for you, especially to those who have been following this service for a long time. You are the fuel to my stamina and I appreciate every bit of support.

Have a great rest of your week! #InVogtWeTrust
