Second Prediction for January 17, 2018

Good morning everyone. Attached is the Second Prediction for Wednesday, January 17, 2018.

Snow has begun to develop over the region and will increase in coverage as the day progresses. Schools throughout NE PA have closed, though there are still some schools that may conduct early dismissals later today (such as Scranton and the Lehigh Valley) — keep an eye out for official word.

Snow will become steady tonight and will last into the morning hours tomorrow. Model guidance has trended to having the snow linger longer in the morning, which would increase the closing odds. In my opinion, I am concerned road conditions will not improve in time for the morning bus runs, even under a delay scenario. I do think a 5-Day weekend is possible.

I plan on posting the Final Prediction for Wednesday tonight. Continue to pay attention to your local sources for official school announcements. Have a safe day, especially if you are traveling, and thank you for the support.
