December 12, 2017 Recap

Good evening everyone! We actually have a lot to discuss tonight. Let’s get to it…

First, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has liked the page — all 5,000 of you! This is a major milestone and I have no one else to thank but you all for your continued support.

Today’s event was nothing short of interesting. Valley districts conducted normal operations while most mountain area school districts (such as Delaware Valley and North Pocono) delayed. Pocono Mountain was the only public school district in the region to close. Some rural districts in northern PA actually canceled activities due to linger snow squalls. Overall, I think my prediction (65% Regular Day, 35% Delay) was pretty good, though I should have factored in a Closing possibility. **Kind favor: please comment how much snow you received so I can keep an accurate log of this event.

But we are not done yet — we have to keep our eyes out for another Clipper snow event late tomorrow night. Currently, a coating to 2 inches of snow is anticipated Wednesday night into early Thursday morning. What I like about this setup is we have substantially colder temperatures, which will support pavement accumulations across all elevations. In addition, many locations throughout the state should receive some amount of snowfall. These factors, to me, are indications of a region-wide delay scenario, but there is time for things to change.

I will likely issue the First Prediction tomorrow morning; but depending on how long personal events last tonight, I might be able to squeeze it out tonight. Have great evening and see you all soon.
