Good evening everyone. After an interesting afternoon, we now have to focus our attention to tonight’s weather event.
Light freezing rain (0.1-0.15″) is anticipated from the late-evening hours tonight until just after midnight. Temperature, however, are expected to rise above freezing at some point tonight. Valley temperatures are anticipated to go above freezing by or around midnight, while mountain areas could stay below freezing as late as 3/4 AM. Given cold air likes to stick around longer than forecast, we cannot take the delay odds off the table, hence the 30% towards a delay. It is possible for school districts like Pocono Mountain to make delay calls while the other districts go in on time due to difference in elevations.
