Good evening everyone. For those who are not aware, Pocono Mountain announced it will conduct a 3 Hour Delay tomorrow morning due to cold wind chills. They along with two other charter schools are the only institutions throughout Northeast PA that have delayed, despite Wind Chill Advisories in multiple counties. East Stroudsburg, Stroudsburg, and Pleasant Valley have NOT announced delays.
This is the first time Pocono Mountain has exercised its 3 Hour Delay option since its introduction last school year. East Stroudsburg has had the 3 Hour Delay option for many years, but has rarely (maybe once or twice) utilized it. In my opinion, it sounds like Pocono Mountain’s 3 Hour Delay is designed for wind chill events since it has not been used during snow or ice events. This is something to note going forward.
