Good evening everyone. The last few days have been very busy and I was only able to look at the weather periodically. But let’s sit down and analyze both tonight’s wind chills and Saturday’s snow event…
I was only expecting -5*F worse-case wind chills for tonight, but surprisingly the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory suggesting -15*F wind chills are possible. However, their hourly forecast for Mt. Pocono (which is typically the coldest area in Monroe County) only expects wind chill values to get down to -10*F. To make matters more difficult, there are historical events very similar to tonight’s setup that support both Delay and Regular Day options. Given I think wind chill values will only get to -10*F, I am siding with the Regular Day option. However, delays are a possibility since Wind Chill Advisories have a good correlation with delays.
Meanwhile, Saturday’s snow to ice event looks disruptive to any plans. 4-6″ of snow is expected through the morning along with significant icing in the afternoon. It may be wise to adjust plans accordingly and avoid unnecessary travel.
I will keep an eye out for additional alerts tonight as schools could make delay calls tonight. I do want to emphasize: tonight’s event could go either way. Have a good evening everyone!
