FINAL Prediction for December 5, 2016

Good evening everyone! Attached below is the Final Prediction for Monday, December 5. While there have been some changes to the details, the overall setup remains the same.

Snow estimates have decreased slightly to 1-2″ throughout the region. This is actually better from a prediction-confidence standpoint: too much snow, and you introduce closing risks; with limited accumulations, regular day options begin to weigh in.

While 1-2″ can be expected, isolated locations could receive as much as 3″, which keeps the closing possibilities on the table. I still think the only districts that would be at risk for closings would be (primarily) Pocono Mountain and East Stroudsburg. The start time remains around 1/2 AM, but the end time has been pulled back to 7 AM, which increases the confidence for a delay.

I would anticipate any school decision to be made in the morning. If you want to get text alerts for school announcements in Monroe County, text @vwwmonroe to 81010. This is a free texting service and I am not sure if Pocono Record will be available (they did not send an alert when Pocono Mountain delayed a few weeks ago). Have a good evening everyone and see you early in the morning.
