Good evening everyone. I hope your weekend is off to an excellent start. If you have been monitoring your local forecasts, you may have noticed snow is expected for Monday morning. I have been watching this event closely and it looks like snow could impact school operations on Monday. Let’s get to it…
From 1/2 AM until 10 AM, 1-2 inches of snow for the valleys and 2-3 inches for the mountains is expected to occur. Although accumulations will be relatively light, the problem is the snow is occurring right in the middle of the morning bus runs. Based on the timing, there may be limited benefit to conducting delays. There have been school closures in the past resulting from 3 inches of snow at just the right time — history might repeat itself on Monday.
Overall, I like the idea for widespread delays and some isolated closures. I would not be surprised if some mountain districts close (i.e. Pocono Mountain) while valley districts operate under a delay.
