FINAL Prediction for October 27, 2016

Good evening everyone; I hope all is well.

Our wintry mix threat is only half a day away. Some new information has lead to slight adjustments in the percentages, but overall the idea of a Regular Day remains in place. While snow estimates remain under half an inch, ice estimates have increase to less than .10″ (before it was less than .05″). This is an event for the higher elevations.

I am aware of the Freezing Rain Advisory, but the ice amounts in the advisory match the forecast above. Warm ground temperatures will limit icing on roadways. Still, I advise extra caution if you are traveling tomorrow.

Regionally speaking, I have a suspicion this could be a borderline situation, where Monroe County goes in on time while the other county next door delays (i.e. Wayne). Likewise, I would not be surprised if Pocono Mountain School District reacts one way, while the rest of the county does not react at all.

I distinctly recall an event just like this back in late 2014 when schools went in on time with a similar mixed precipitation scenario, which is why I am for the Regular Day option. Still, I will be up early tomorrow morning to watch this event just in case. Have a good evening everyone!
